Shabbat Mornings at CBJ offer many options for learning, worship, music, childcare, and fun!
Torah Study
Shabbat Mornings, 9:00 to 10:00 am, on the Beit Aseifa Patio
The capstone of lifelong learning at CBJ is this lively and sometimes intense weekly journey deep into the Torah landscape. Here, a growing group of Torah-explorers comes together to travel the twists and turns verse by verse, guided by Rabbi Ezray and Bill. You’ll never look at Torah quite the same way again. Speaking is encouraged but not required!
Traditional Service
Shabbat Mornings, 10:00 am to 12:30 pm (approximately), in the Beit K’nesset (Sanctuary)
Our traditional Shabbat Morning services are egalitarian and it stresses learning and participation from our talented and learned congregants. We use the Lev Shalem Siddur and we follow the Triennial cycle of the Torah reading. See the links above for copies that you can view.
If you would like to learn the prayers that we chant every morning, SiddurAudio.com is a great resource. In addition, we offer many Adult Education classes in order to engage with the text and deepen our understanding of the service and prayers.
Junior Congregation
Shabbat Mornings during the school year (please see Calendar for exceptions), 10:00 to 11:15 am, in the Beit Aseifa Patio
Join kids of all ages for Junior Congregation, led by our talented congregant Dan Leemon. This service features guitar-accompanied prayer and a very lively Torah discussion. Junior Congregation, which is part of our religious school curriculum, is where our students learn to be comfortable on the bimah while leading services, and creative and thoughtful in understanding prayers and Torah. Tot Shabbat Childcare

They will enjoy a mini-service, story time, songs, art projects, and games, along with learning the rituals of blessing the grapejuice and challah. Please be sure your child is wearing a face mask and brings a water-bottle and snack. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic we will only be able to accommodate up to 6 children at this time. In the unlikely event that the program is full when you arrive, you and your child are welcome to stay and play on the play structure. For more information please contact Natalya Martyushova.
