This is a new book group to discuss interesting books of fiction and non-fiction with Jewish themes.
Participants will choose the books (from the Rabbi’s list or their own) and lead the discussions.
Set in the period following the destruction of the Second Temple and featuring fictionalized accounts of some of the leading rabbis of the period, the novel raises profound questions about faith versus reason, Jewish versus Greco-Roman culture, and the challenges of occupation and assimilation. Even if you read it in the past, you’ll enjoy re-examining it through a 2019 lens.
