Some CBJ members may be in the mood to discuss the elections when we gather for Shabbat on November 9th, while others may prefer strongly not to discuss politics at schul. As such, on November 9th, tables in the social hall will be clearly marked with either “Election Talk” or “No Election Talk” signs.  

The “Election Talk” tables will be set aside for those who agree to share their feelings in a spirit of respectful dialogue and curiosity. We hope to limit each table to 8 people. Volunteer facilitators and handouts will be available at the “Election Talk” tables to remind participants of Respectful Dialogue guidelines.

           Those seated at the “No Election Talk” tables will be expected to refrain from any political discussion (even consensual).

Your CBJ community cares about you and wants you to feel connected, heard, and valued. Please know additional sharing events will be planned and publicized in coming weeks.  Some (like the 09/21 gathering) will focus on sharing what’s in our hearts, while others will encourage discussing perspectives and, possibly, strategies in support of strengthening our unity by honoring our diversity.
