A Message from Steve Dines

Welcome back!!

Welcome back!!

With the rapid pace of reopening occurring at the state and county levels I thought it would be a good time to give everyone an update on our plans.

As the guidelines have been substantially rolled back, each of us is having to make decisions about masks and how we feel being around the general population. We are all making different decisions at different speeds as we slowly rewire our brains after 15 months of isolation.

For the past 15 months the COVID committee has concentrated on staying within the strict guardrails put out by the authorities. Now it is time to move into a mode of providing options to our congregants that allow for our varying comfort levels, while continuing to respect and abide by the guidelines of the authorities.

So, first I will describe what we are planning through the month of July, in terms of our hybrid Shabbat Services – services that are simultaneously in person and online via zoom or livestream. As conditions change and guidelines continue to be updated, and as we receive feedback from all of you, we will continue to update this plan as appropriate.

Come to our Traditional and Power Hour Shabbat Services any Saturday in July and reconnect with old friends.

At 9:00 am we will have our Hybrid Traditional Service, and at 11:30 am we will have our Power Hour Service, the latter having been hybrid for the last several weeks.

As you enter the lobby from the parking lot, you will be greeted by a fellow congregant who will direct you to the Beit Aseifa area.

The outdoor Beit Aseifa patio (aka the Zemel patio) is open to all, with separated seating, and masks should be worn by:

All unvaccinated congregants
All congregants who are part of a bubble that includes kids aged 2-12
All congregants who feel more comfortable doing so

The Beit Aseifa room will have the fourth wall open onto the patio, and you will look through the room, across the patio to the bimah. In order to cater for as many of our congregants as we can, the room will be set aside for those who are fully vaccinated and prefer to sit amongst others who are also vaccinated. Masks are optional.

Tot Shabbat will continue to be offered 10:00 am through 1:00 pm.

We are also hoping to re-introduce Kiddish lunch in August – initially this will be boxed lunches and we hope over time to be able to transition to our former buffet style. We will send out further communication during July.

We look forward to seeing you all soon back at CBJ.
