Dan Leemon leads our religious school’s Junior Congregation service every Shabbat morning during the school year, and CBJ’s “Different Service” on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Dan’s services emphasize traditional and modern music, as well as engaging discussion of the meaning of Torah and prayers. His strong Jewish day school and religious upbringing in Detroit, musical theater experience, and expert guitar playing — along with his sense of humor and ability to elicit participation and discussion from our students — combine to make him a unique service leader. In his “real life”, Dan was a management consultant and corporate executive, and now advises companies and serves as a board director. Dan and his wife, Julie Dorsey, have been members of CBJ since 1986 and are the proud parents of three CBJ b’nai mitzvah. Dan co-chaired the rabbinical search effort that brought Rabbi Ezray to CBJ, and has served on the boards of the CBJ, Gideon Hausner Jewish Day School, the Jewish Community Federation, the Stanford Jewish Chaplaincy, and J. Weekly.
