Saving Religion from Itself – with Rabbi Ezray

Rabbi Donniel Hartman, director of the Shalom Hartman Institute, has written one of the most important books for this moment in history.  In Putting God Second, Rabbi Hartman asks why religion falls short of realizing the goal of instilling morality and the highest ethical standards in its followers.  He explains that often religion misuses belief in God and what God desires to justify evil.  He argues that the antidote to this reality is “putting God second” and putting morality first.  By creating a mindset that focuses on ethical imperative toward fellow human, we return God to God’s true status and desire – the source of goodness and ethics.
