Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, former Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth published this extraordinary book in 2015, arguing that religious extremism has to be countered with theology. Sacks draws on philosophy, psychology, history, and Jewish texts to demonstrate that the God of compassion and peace – is the solution.

Join Rabbi Emeritus Sheldon Lewis in exploring this critically important work by one of the leading Jewish thinkers of our time. For 33 years, Rabbi Lewis led Congregation Kol Emeth in Palo Alto, retiring to become Rabbi Emeritus in 2007. In 2012 he published a book on peaceful conflict resolution within Jewish sources entitled The Torah of Reconciliation. Rabbi Lewis served as an Army chaplain in Vietnam, lived in Jerusalem for almost three years and is a frequent traveler to Israel. He is a past president of the Northern California Board of Rabbis.
